> How can such a tiny file be causing so much problems to download? You have strange ideas as to small files and I would hate to ever download what you would consider a big one ! I have FINALLY just managed to connect to Hyperion's site and started the download a few minutes ago. IB says it will be finished at 19:57 which means it will take about 1 hour to download. I do not consider that SMALL but HUGE. Hopefully it will be worth it ![]() |

OK. I got the file eventually after one whole hour watching it download but now cannot unpack the ISO from the lha archive. I get the message "Error while unpacking A1InstallCD-Upd1.lha filetype is unknown". That is with Unarc, Dopus just shows and does nothing when I try to extract. Anyone have any ideas what to do with this file or is it corrupted. I really do NOT want to spend another whole HOUR waiting for a huge download that then may still not unpack. |

What have I found?? That I cannot remember the setting or utility that stops the context menus from dissappearing when I let go of the right mouse button! I must have changed a setting or something that kept the menus in place. Frustrating isn't the word!! ![]() I'm sure it's something simple! Other than that I'm really liking it so far! Edit : Found it in GUI Preferences! ![]() |

Ouch, it sounds like this is corrupted. It should de-archive straight from Unarc. Though you could try to unpack it from the CLI.. I'd kick off another download now. If it is corrupted then you don't really want to install it. Shame about your download speeds. I can sympathise with you, my Dad lives on the outskirts of greater London and he also gets a measily 512Kb service. Bean. |

I really had hoped that was not the case but it looks as if it is. The Hyperion website says 157797285 Bytes and the file I downloaded ended up as 157797398 bytes - why did it increase in size ? Thanks for confirming that my file seems corrupt. I will start again and watch Silent Witness rather than twiddle my thumbs waiting for it. It should just have finished at the same time as the TV programme. Quote:
I do not even get any choice in the matter, it is blatant BT discrimination, I am sick of hearing about BT "rolling out" 20MBps broadband when they cannot do better than 512kbps in areas they do not give a stuff about ![]() Quote:
Wow that does surprise me, I know BT is biased against Scotland but I thought all London would be well covered. Anyway off to watch the TV now and hopefully by the time I return find a correctly downloaded file. I do wish the "update" had been just an update not a whole install and hence a much smaller archive to grab. Bill. |

O.k. just downloaded it again, and I can open it with unarc.... This time I used Opera 9.24 on my win machine. First download which failed was done by IBrowse... I'll burn and boot afterwards.... greetings Ah more news... just read on AW that IBrowse and Aweb donnot work, so use OWB. |

I downloaded twice with IBrowse and they were both corrupted, so i tried OWB and it worked fine. |

I've downloaded both the files! Yay!
Both unarchive and burn to the CD! Yay! Neither of them work! GARGH. AmigaOne build (burned with MakeCD, verified with AmiDVD) starts to boot, then black screen after a ten seconds or so. Booting with no startup-sequence shows that it's IPrefs that's crashing, Guru'ing (80000003) in window.class. Nothing I've been able to do so far has made it do anything else. Sam440ep build (burned with MakeCD, but not verified) starts to boot, then black screen after ten seconds or so. I've not been able to boot with no Startup-sequence for some reason (can't get into the boot menu) but I can guess what's going wrong. Anyone got any suggestions? 'cause at the moment it just looks like someone stuffed up the build. My A1 has: Radeon 9250 1GB RAM (2x512MB) Sii0680 Sii3512 SB Live! Catweasel Mk IV Onboard IDE: 60GB PATA HDD MSI CD-RW (seems to be working iffily at the moment so booting off the other drive) Sii SATA: 80GB SATA HDD Lite-On DVD+-RW (CD1:, booting with this drive). My Sam is vanilla except for a TV card. No-one else had this problem? Can't believe it's happening on both systems. In the UK, by the way. |

You need to perform a full reset in order to boot the CD, not a soft reset. Simon |
